COMPARTILHANDO COM OS AMIGOS

14 dezembro 2009

It's official, Verge is gone!

-----------------------------------

I'm not sure how many here were still buying from Verge, but they were a source of some real bargains over the years (maybe that's why they will no longer be with us?).

Here's the email I got, I hope Daniel doesn't mind me posting it.

Dear Verge Customer,

It is with great regret that we inform you that after nearly 15 years Verge Music must close its doors. Our situation has been very difficult over the last few years and we are very grateful for the support of our customers over the years.

On a happier note we are pleased to announce that Squidco will be taking over the domain and Verge customer base. Squidco will contact you for two reasons: 1) to welcome you to use their service and 2) if you have any backorders they will advise you on which items they can supply now and which they can source for you. Any backorders that cannot be sourced by Squidco will be forwarded to the labels. I would not like to see the labels whom need your support lose these sales! I hope you agree.

Please be advised that no sensitive data will be released to Squidco, only what is necessary to make contact with you. Your relationship with Squidco is voluntary and you can of course opt out at anytime. I would strongly encourage you to work with Squidco. They are a very similar company to Verge in that they are based on a strong love for the music, and like Verge are not just a business but also an advocate.

Verge has worked hard over the years to make a connection between customers and labels and artists. It would be a shame if that connection were broken. Labels and artists would suffer. So working with Squidco will honour the special relationship Verge has had with you and the labels and build on that for the future.

Finally I would just like to say that it has been a great pleasure to serve you over the years. Many of you I have gotten to know quite well and consider you friends. I will miss this contact that was often enlightening and fascinating. Even though money changed hands we interacted as a community of common interest. This music, which defies category and is hard to give a name to, depends upon a small alternative network that you are all a part of. Verge was only a small part of this. Please work with Squidco to continue supporting great music.

Sincerely,

Daniel Kernohan
